Easy Pork Giniling Recipe

Pork Giniling Recipe

Pork Giniling just literally means ‘ground pork’, but to Filipinos, it is more than that.

Yes it involves ground pork, but it is the combination of different other ingredients that eventually leads to simple yet tasty dish Pinoys love.

The dish is tomato based and we make use of potatoes and carrots to add more volume and nutrients to the otherwise lean ground pork.

I learned this dish as a kid. My busy mom would often cook this since it is fairly easy and relatively quick to prepare. And now, I’m just looking to every opportunity to get may hands on them.

When you miss a dish you grew up with, it is hard to resist, right? Fortunately, I found this recipe that helps me recreate Pork Giniling. It’s tried and proven so it would definitely get you eating in no time.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 & ½ lb ground pork
  • 1 & ½ cup potatoes, diced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 medium sized onion, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 pc pork cube
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • 4 boiled eggs (optional)

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Pour and heat the cooking oil in a pot.
  2. When the oil is hot enough, put- in the garlic and sauté until the color turns light brown.
  3. Add the onions and sauté until the texture becomes soft.
  4. Put- in the ground pork and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the beef or pork cube, tomato sauce, and water and let boil. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Put- in the carrots and potatoes then stir until every ingredient is properly distributed.
  7. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes.
  8. Add the salt, ground black pepper, and sugar then stir.
  9. Put in the boiled eggs and turn off the heat.
  10. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve. Enjoy!
