Easy Steamed Fish Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 tbsp salted black beans
  • 1 & 1/2 pounds whole walleye or red snapper, well cleaned (or use similar fish)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp sesame oil
  • green onions, for garnish

HOW TO COOK:

  1. In a bowl, place the black beans and cover with warm water for about 2 minutes.
  2. Stir and rinse. Drain well.
  3. Add the ginger, oil, garlic, salt, sugar, soy sauce and sesame oil. Mix and set aside.
  4. Clean the fish well and pat dry. Rub the cavity and outside of the fish with the black beans mixture.
  5. Place in foil, cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  6. Steam the fish over boiling water for about 15 minutes until cooked (check if the fish flakes easily).
  7. You can also microwave it for 3 minutes on high. Rotate the dish and cook for another 2 minutes on high.
  8. You can also us turbo broiler, cook it at 450 F for 20 minutes.
  9. Garnish with green onions before serving.
