Sweet & Sour Spareribs Chinese Style Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 lbs pork spareribs, cut into 1 inch strips (have butcher cut these through the bones)
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • ¾ cup water
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 3 inch ginger, smashed & sliced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Cut the spareribs between the bones into bite size pieces then place in a large bowl.
  2. Add- in the soy sauce then mix.
  3. Add- in the flour then mix.
  4. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Place the vinegar, water, brown sugar, and salt in a large pot. Set aside.
  6. Heat a wok or nonstick frying pan over medium high heat.
  7. Pour 2 to 3 tbsp cooking oil and gently brown the ginger and garlic.
  8. Remove and place in the pot with the sauce.
  9. Add- in ½ of the meat to the wok and spread out but don’t stir.
  10. Let it brown for 2 minutes.
  11. Using a tong, turn pieces to evenly brown.
  12. Remove pieces as they brown and add them to the pot.
  13. Cook the other ½ of the meat the same way then add to the pot.
  14. Stir to mix meat with the sauce.
  15. Place the pot on the stove and bring to a boil.
  16. Turn the heat down to low and let simmer, covered, for 1 hour or until tender (stir occasionally).
  17. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving plate. Enjoy!
